Ways to travel

By car

From Amsterdam or Utrecht (about 1 hour 45 minutes): take the A1 (from Amsterdam) or A27 (from Utrecht), then the A6 towards Almere and Lelystad. Then take the A7 to Drachten and Groningen. Leave the A7 at exit 28 to Beetsterzwaag. Go through the town of Beetsterzwaag. As soon as you leave Beetsterzwaag take a right to Hemrik. Follow this road for about 5 km, then take a left just before the village sign.

Hiring a car: want your own car for the week? It’s an easy and affordable option, and you can pick it up at Schiphol Airport. Try cheapcars.nl, with options from around €50 a day if you book early enough.

By train

The local train station is Heerenveen, about 25 minutes away by car or taxi. There are two trains each hour from Schiphol to Heerenveen.

Check the schedule at ns.nl or in the NS Travel Planner app. To plan a full public transport journey, use 9292.nl.

The train leaving at 5 minutes past the hour towards Groningen is indirect, and you’ll change at Zwolle. The train at 35 minutes past the hour towards Leeuwarden is direct.

Bus from the station: a cheaper but longer route from Heerenveen train station is bus 20 or 21 to Lippenhuizen De Driehoek, which leaves every 30 minutes and takes about 30 minutes. Lippenhuizen is 5 to 8 minutes from New Eden by taxi, or about an hour on foot.
